Lothian Motorcycle Training offers four categories of training, each of which are specifically tailored to meet the needs of the student. During training, our students abilities are monitored and recorded by our DSA qualified instructors, ensuring that each student continues to progress. It ensures that they receive sufficient feedback and coaching, with the emphasis on developing their motorcycling skills, not just passing a test.
Please check that you have a valid UK driving licence
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
The CBT normally takes just one day to complete. It consists of a classroom introduction to road safety and discussion about safety equipment, followed by a demonstration of the motorcycle controls and motorcycle safety checks. Students will practice slow riding control, learn to use gears, practice controlled braking and emergency stops, learn to do figure of 8's and U-turns within the safety of the LMT compound. On successful completion, students will move on to classroom based road training and the day will culminate with the student going on the road accompanied by an instructor for their road assessment.
